cross national data

Cross-national econometric research has played a major role recently in shaping understandings of tax issues. However, many of these results are highly questionable, largely because of grave deficiencies in the quality of data available from the IMF, World Bank and others. The ICTD created a new Government Revenue Dataset, which is the most accurate and complete dataset available on cross-country tax and revenue data. This dataset has allowed researchers to better elaborate relationships between taxation and growth taxation and governance, taxation and inequality, and aid and tax effort.
