African Tax Administration Research Day
Entebbe, Uganda – Thursday 19th October

Call for Papers

On 19th October 2017, the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) and the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will host the presentation of research papers on taxation in Africa authored by staff of African tax administrations or ministries of finance.

The purpose of this event is to encourage and support useful, policy-oriented research by African professionals directly involved in tax policy and administration.

The paper presenters will:

  • Be invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of the International Centre for Tax and Development, hosted by the Uganda Revenue Authority, which will be held in Entebbe over the period 16-18th October.
  • Be provided with travel to the meeting and accommodation for the four days of meetings.
  • Receive mentoring and support from professional researchers associated with the ICTD, to enable them to improve their research and their presentation thereof, hopefully for publication.

We will select a maximum of 8 papers, and will not fund more than two presenters per paper.

Papers should be based on original research, in English, and be relevant to policy.

Should you wish to present a paper, please send a proposal to our Research Uptake and Communications Manager, Rhiannon McCluskey [email protected], by 30th July 2017.

The proposal should include either (a) a copy of the paper if one is already available; or (b) a summary of the research findings; or (c) a description of research already underway.

Applicants will be informed whether they have been accepted by 14th August.

We are very much looking forward to receiving your submissions.
