Alan Carter, senior economist at the Internatinal Tax Dialogue says high quality international accounting standards are required to mitigate tax avoidance.
He argues that improved standards will benefit corporate taxpayers and tax authorities as they will;
– enhance transparency in the extractive industries;
– help tax administrators to deter profit shifting and tax businesses fairly; and
– lead to better informed investment choices.
His article is a contribution to the publication, G8: The UK Summit: Lough Erne which has been published by the University of Toronto in the run-up to the G8 Summit.
